About Amy Chen
Amy Chen is running for the Foothill Municipal Water District Board, Division 4, bringing 40 years of California water experience to a district facing some of its biggest decisions in decades.
Amy is a licensed California Professional Engineer and a 30-year resident of La Cañada Flintridge. She currently serves as a Commissioner on the city's Public Works & Traffic Commission and the Commission’s representative to the Emergency Preparedness Coordination Committee.
Her career spans both the technical and policy sides of water. Amy began at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, working in water system engineering and operations. She later spent nearly three decades at the San Diego County Water Authority, where she advised policymakers on consequential decisions involving rates and finance, regional water policy, major infrastructure investments, and long-term supply planning.
That combination—the technical background to understand how water systems work and the policy experience to understand how major decisions get made —is what Amy believes Foothill MWD needs as it faces infrastructure and water supply decisions that will shape reliability and what ratepayers pay for decades.
Now retired from her public agency career, Amy wants to put that experience to work for the community she has called home for nearly 30 years. She is not a career politician. This is the only public office she is seeking, and she has no plans to seek another. Her goal is simple: to use the experience she has gained over four decades to give back to the community that has been so good to her and her family.
