Letter to the Editor: Support for Chen
This isn't a race we hear about often, or a role most voters, including me, know well.
I first met Amy Chen when she launched her campaign; she explained the Foothill Municipal Water District Board, what it actually does, and why the decisions it makes matter to all of us. It immediately made sense to me why Amy was running and, more importantly, why we need someone with her experience representing our community.
This is a specialized job. Political experience, endorsements, or connections should not be the deciding factor. The question voters should ask is much simpler: Is this person qualified for the job, and can they contribute on day one? With Amy, the answer is clearly yes.
She has spent four decades working in California water, beginning as an engineer at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and later spending nearly 30 years at the San Diego County Water Authority advising on water policy, infrastructure, rates, finance, and long-term supply planning.
She is also a 30-year La Cañada Flintridge resident who has consistently given back to our community through local commissions, schools, and civic organizations.
At a time when water reliability, infrastructure, and costs will require serious decisions, relevant experience and independent judgment matter.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting Amy Chen for Foothill Municipal Water District, Division 4, and putting someone with the knowledge, passion, and ability to serve our community to work for us.
