I am writing in support of Amy Chen for the Foothill Municipal Water District Board, Division 4. As the Eaton and Palisades fires have shown, preparing and planning for a continuously available water supply is critical for the safety of our community and an integral part of our disaster preparedness planning. Moreover, a clean, reliable, and affordable water supply is the foundation of our lives in our Mediterranean climate, which is becoming more extreme due to climate change. Climate change fueled droughts are negatively impacting LCF’s water supply, and we need Amy’s 40 years of water policy experience on the Water Board.
Amy is a professional water engineer and served for nearly three decades advising the San Diego County Water Authority on policies involving rates and financing, infrastructure investments, regional water supply, and long-term water supply planning. A 30-year resident of LCF and a current member of the Public Works & Traffic Commission, Amy is also that commission’s representative on the Emergency Preparedness Coordination Committee. Amy is committed to public service and to safeguarding our community. Let’s vote to give her the opportunity to use her professional expertise to shape LCF’s water policy for both the present and the future.
